FIRST LEGO League Challenge

FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is a global Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) programme for teams of young people aged 9 - 16 years old, to encourage an interest in real-world themes and develop key skills that are crucial for their future careers.

Young people work together to explore a given topic and to design, build and program an autonomous LEGO® robot to solve a series of missions. They complete an Innovation Project where they research the annual theme, identify a real-world problem and then propose an innovative solution. Then, at an end of season tournament, they must present all of their work to a panel of judges. They are scored for the success of their Robot Game missions as well as judged on their Innovation Project as well as their Robot Design, coding and engineering skills. Most importantly, they must demonstrate the FIRST LEGO League Core Values of Discover, Innovation, Inclusion, Impact, Teamwork and Fun!

FIRST LEGO League is delivered by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) across the UK and Ireland. We at Education North Tyneside are proud to be regional delivery partners for this wonderful STEM programme. We currently run FIRST LEGO League Challenge events for North Tyneside and Northumberland, Teesside and Gateshead.
