LEGO Robotics for Business at TechNExt 24

Education North Tyneside, the school improvement service for North Tyneside Council, has announced their participation in the TechNExt fringe festival with its event, LEGO Robotics for Business. This interactive workshop aims to connect local organisations with the incredible global STEM programme, FIRST LEGO League, a robotics and life-skills competition for 9-16 year olds.

As the organisers of the largest FIRST LEGO League regional tournaments in the UK and Ireland, Education North Tyneside is committed to growing the programme and inspiring the next generation of engineers and technicians in the North East. The workshop will provide attendees with hands-on experience using the latest LEGO robot kits and the opportunity to take on the Robot Game challenge table from FIRST LEGO League.

Neil Brown, School Improvement Advisor at Education North Tyneside, emphasises the importance of building stronger relationships between local education and industry. “We want to use this opportunity to help connect the fantastic North East tech industry with local education. Stronger relationships between the two will show students the STEM career opportunities that are on their doorstep and give industry the chance to support schools and define the skills they need from the next generation of young talent.”

Attendees will also learn about the various ways their organisations can get involved and support Education North Tyneside’s STEM work with schools, from volunteering to sponsorship. The event will also introduce unique team-building sessions that allow participants to share the LEGO robot experience with colleagues.

Education North Tyneside is taking part in the TechNExt festival fringe, to help foster stronger relationships with the local technology industry. By bridging the gap between education and industry through programmes like FIRST LEGO League, they aim to create win-win partnerships that benefit both students and the tech sector.

The North East tech community is an exciting sector that drives growth in the region, and Education North Tyneside is proud to be a part of it. By educating young people about the opportunities available to them, inspiring them to pursue STEM learning, and laying out clear career pathways, they hope to create and retain the best future tech talent in the North East.
